Delivery Time for a Luna new
#876 - 01/29/04 02:45 PM (199.164.160.4)

Hi Luna/Tetra owners,

How long did your non custom painted Luna or Tetra take from date of order to delivery to your LBS?

My cobalt blue fade Tetra took about 12 weeks. The LBS also noticed a small scratch in the paint, so they had to return it to be touched up.....so that took an additional couple of weeks.

My LBS ordered my cabernet red fade Luna on Nov 10. It has not left Calfee. Hopefully, it will make to 'Bama in the next couple weeks. I am glad that I ordered it over the winter.

Just got my first look at my Tetra Pro. My bike was custom and it still arrived in 8 weeks. I guess I was one of the lucky ones. 8 to 12 weeks is not a long time when you consider the craftsmanship. You wont be disappointed. I had very high expectations and they were still exceeded 10 Fold.

Good Luck

It took 7 weeks to get my custom sized and painted tetra...
It took 25 weeks to get our nude, non custom tetra-tetra....
Only 4 weeks to get my wife's stock Tetra.

Delivery times vary, and can change very rapidly based on small spikes in order rate. Calfee is a production limited company. They can only make so many bikes per week, and once the incoming order rate exceeds the maximum production rate, delivery times push out quickly.

Patience MSO,
You will be rewarded

It took 5 and half weeks for my Tetra Pro, Cabernet Red Fade, extra stiff down tube, and only the head tube detail. I must have a half week by leaving the other decals off

Don't be mad , but I ordered my Tetra Pro on Dec 15, and it was delivered to my LBS on Jan 23. You should have gotten yours before I got mine Maybe a part shortage on the Luna's.

Max.

Maybe Luna's take longer or California shops get preferential treatment. In an Email, I told Stella that they should take their time and do it right. The riding weather is gotta be better in your neck of the woods than it is in North Alabama.

I am sure preferential treatment is probably given to high volume shops, and the LBS I ordered my bike from sells a lot of Calfees.

The weather I never talk about, because there's nothing to talk about. It never changes here, and I am fine with that.

Where I bought mine had never ordered one before and it came in within the time parameters. I don't remember exactly what but I wasn't wondering where it was by any means.

Stella could correct me but if I remember correctly they build all of one model at one time. So if they are doing a "run" of Tetra's when the order goes in it is faster and vice versa.

Volume of the dealer is not a factor. It it was I'd probably still be waiting.

It's now 3 months and no Luna. I was told it was sent to paint approximatley a week and a half ago and would ship late last week, but alas, no news !! What's frustrating is to be told 8 weeks, which is long but one accepts it for a great bike, then to now get into 12 weeks and still no bike !!

Call and talk to Stella or Dean. Your key contact is probably Stella but it could be Dean. Don't leave a voicemail. Call and get someone live. Either of those two will help you. It could be in transit.

It will be worth the wait.

Lon

MSO,
I have been waiting for my Luna for three months. You are not the only one. It appears that Calfee has quite a back log of bikes frames to build. I contacted Stella in mid January and she said no earlier than the end of January. So I am not holding my breath waiting. My LBS originally said that it should arrive before Christmas but they did not specify which year.

Calfee was almost unheard of 2 years ago except in pockets of the country. Their production was set up for that.

In the last two years they have gotten a lot of press and therefore more recognition. This forum has meant more sales.

Craig is not going to rush production or hire less than competent people to hurry out an order. Be happy it is that way.

I ordered mine and forgot about it. When it came it came.

If you want quick turnaround buy a Cannondale. If you want meticulous, hand built carbon fiber made in the USA buy a Calfee and wait. It is worth the wait.

I've purchased both a custom Seven and Serotta/w paint over the years and they both took approximately 6 weeks. The frustrating part is to be told a date, then another, then no communication at all. No doubt in mind they're great bikes, but tell the customer up front how long it's really is going to take to receive delivery.

Looking at the bright side. My LBS only asked for a small deposit. Most Seven dealers are asking for $1000 deposits which is a lot of cash to tie up while you are waiting. I was a little skeptical of the 6-8 week LBS claims which is one reason that I order over the winter. I still have my Trek to ride until my Calfee is ready. I have a picture of a caberet red fade Luna frame on my computer desk top so I can remember what I ordered.

My LBS took a $1,000.00 for the Luna, so maybe you can see why I'm so frustrated.
