Please give me any suggestions on a good set of racing wheels. My regular wheels are Ksyrium SSC's. I am looking for a good, relatively inexpensive set of racing wheels for tri's. Thanks.

Check out the American Classic Web Site. They have some very interesting new race day wheels out. Can believe a magnesium wheel? These are true race day wheels and are stated as such.
One thing what is one person's relatively inexpensive is another person's expensive. That makes it hard to judge cost.

Might be a little pricey...but, Zipp 404's or Zipp 900's are nice! Check them out at www.zipp.com Great wheels...lots of folks ride them in Tri's... Good Luck!

Hey,
Do yourself a favor and go outside the traditional cycling "box". Call Jeremy at Alchemy Bikes in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Jeremy fills a growing cycling niche and only does custom wheel sets. He's a true craftsman who actually "sizes" wheel sets to address the specific user's needs. How? First he'll interview ya over the phone (unless you live near NM) to understand what you're looking for (performance), how you ride, your weight, frame materials, etc. and then he will suggest a custom blend of hubs, rims and spokes to fit you to a tee.
Most people's buying decision consists of a search for: the coolest looking wheels at the lowest weight they can afford. Yikes, that's not very deep!
Don't sacrifice! For example, my D'fly sports a set of Jeremy's custom wheels that weight 1,264 g (total!) and their performance has put my trusty Campy Nucleons on the sales block. We're talking about Tune hubs and American Classic rims. The wheel set has more than 500 miles on it and I swear they are still true and much stronger than my Campy's.
You will be surprised that the custom sets actually cost a lot less than you'd expect (mine cost a little more than $650) and Jeremy will actually keep your contact information and call you from time to time to see how the wheel set is performing. Very honest, easy to talk to, etc.
Let me know if you want Jeremy's phone number because you won't find his information on the web. You could also ask Stella (Calfee sales) since she knows Jeremy's work and often refers people.

For some of the finest hand made check Dave's wheels at:
http://www.speeddream.com/
I've got a set and they are so responsive and snappy. Check out the weights too. They are lighter than most after market wheels and are hundreds less to boot. Plus he offers warrenties against spoke breakage and failures.
Note that the wheel sets on the site are for referance only. He'll interview you on the phone and and after a 20min. q and a session build the wheels to your spec.
What more could you ask for!!
Later in the season, I'm dumping my Mavics and getting a set of Dave's wheels built to a training spec.
Good luck, X

Dave's wheels have come up for praise over and over again since this forum started. Everybody who has them raves about them. They are even lighter now it seems than they were a year or so ago.

One question....Are these for tri racing?
If so, the only real advantage you might get in a wheel over what you have now is something more aero. Look for a really deep dish rim. Unless you're climbing or doing a lot of accelerating, like in a crit, a lighter weight wheel won't add anything to your performance.
