Season is about 1 month away
#1422 - 02/21/04 05:34 PM (68.114.137.20)

I wanted to start a new post because activity on the board has dwindled. I have been reading the forum for about 5 months now. When I started reading the forum I was not part of the Calfee family. I have since purchased a Tetra Pro. My triathlon season starts in a month with a sprint in Boca Raton. I have only been on the bike 2 thus far as the bike has remained in FL during the winter months. After the April race in FL I will be bringing my baby home to KY. The big event of my season this year will be a half ironman in August. I am looking forward to daily excursion on my bike. After all of this rambling I was wondering the following:

1) What are your riding plans this summer?
2) What was the biggest difference noticed with the first season on your Calfee?
3)For you triathletes: What is your favorite race?

I look foward to the responses.
Thanks,

Ride as much as I can both weekends and after work. Even with all the snow in Western PA I have 415 in for the year. Hour wise I'm way ahead of the miles as some rides where 25 to 30 miles on a mt. bike in the snow. I only averaged 5 to 6 mph. It does cut down on the wind chill however.

As I have been doing for some time I'm taking at least one cycling vacation. I find it is the most relaxing vacation that there is. It isn't long before your thoughts are getting over the next hill, eating and sleeping. The worries and woes of work are gone.

I think I'll be doing Pedal PA again. It rides across PA and averages 70 to 80 miles a day. We stay in college dorms and eat at the colleges. The food is good, a nice lunch is served, and a college dorm is fine after riding all day. Plus they have massage as an option.

The only change with the Calfee in my riding is that I enjoyed it even more. I really love that bike.

1) What are your riding plans this summer?

Recreation rider. get out as much as possible. I am hoping to find some pokey rider like myself to ride with on occassion. Almost 400 miles despite the lousy weather.

2) What was the biggest difference noticed with the first season on your Calfee?

Got mine 12/26/2003. Not many rides on her yet. I was fitted for this Luna. 1st time I was fitted for a bike. What a difference. Comfort.Light.

Been riding the rain bike (Lemond Zurich) for most of the winter and have about 1200 miles in since Dec. 1. We've been pretty lucky here in Northern CA with the weather...up until the past couple of weeks (rain!).

I'm planning on doing a few road races (master's 35+ 4/5) and some crits. Can't wait to break out the Calfee. The biggest thing that I noticed about my Calfee is the quicker steering as compared to my Lemond. It took a while to get used to on the descents, but now it's not an issue.

I work a business from home, and can ride everyday during the week (weekends are for the family).

1) What are your riding plans this summer?

Ride in the California Triple Crown - Stage Race (3 DC's)
Mulholand DC - April
Central Coast - May
Terrible Two's - June

2) What was the biggest difference noticed with the first season on your Calfee?

I have had my Calfee for about two weeks, and only 277 miles on it, but what I have notice so far is it does everything better compared to my 20 year old Merckx, except the long straight down hills (the Merckx is about 5 lbs. heavier with a lower bb, which makes it a tad faster only a long straight down hill).

3)For you triathletes: What is your favorite race?

It's the IronMan in Kona.
