Chorus labeling question new
#1728 - 03/12/04 02:16 AM (208.188.21.122)

I have a left Chorus 10 speed shifter says "Carbon BB System" on it. I bought it as part of a 2003 group; the cranks and derailleur don't have any carbon parts and both levers on both shifters are alloy. Anybody know what the deal is on this labeling?

Thanks,

codisc

You indeed have the 2003 Chorus group. Chorus went carbon in 2004.

i believe it means that the body is carbon (not plastic)and the internals (brake/shift parts) move on ball bearings as opposed to a bushing, as on the lower-centaur etc. lines.

Thanks terry. Your reply makes sense, and the body does appear to be carbon composite.

Yes Codisc, Terry is correct, the carbon BB labeling used on the 03 chorus Ergo levers stands for carbon composite body with Ball Bearings fitted to improve the shift mechanism, hence the abbreviation Carbon BB.
