Kahuna,
FWIW - using the View Recent Messages Function appears to create a virtual front end which may provide a 'wider' view of forum traffic. Although, users can not post from that screen once invoked.
The VRMF view looks promising because it allows a user to see MOST recent posts in one area...
Happy Holidays.

True, it appears you can't post from that first screen when looking at the VRM list but when you think about it, why would you want to? Once you click on a message of interest, it opens that message and you're automagically taken to the forum where it was posted to. From there you can reply.
If you simply want to start a new thread, it only makes sense to first select a relevant forum where it belongs. From there you can post.
The VRM function looks very useful for keeping up to date on new material spanning all the forums "at-a-glance" style. It's very slick and thanks for noticing that.
However, it gets even better. The UBBthreads software has attracted a nice hacker following where people design and contribute various add-ons and modifications to give the forum more functionality and power. Already I've installed a spell checker, various skins, image gallery mods, and more. Over time you will see more improvements here as I experiment with RSS feeds, customizable front-ends, etc. It's a real software tweakers paradise.

i was going to suggest something like the "view recent messages function" described in this thread, but found this thread, and then could not find a vrmf to access.
how do i use the vrmf?
