Anybody knows of a good wheelbuilder in the bay area? I have all the materials, rim-hub-spke, but I'm a little iffy if I should send/ship it somewhere else to have it built. Its a 650c Lew Palermo 12H, a 12H Dura Ace front hub and DT spokes. I tried to put it all together but the nipples does not match with the rim holes. My wheelbuilding experience is limited so I'd rather have this one assembled and tuned by a pro without sending it somewhere else. looking for a builder close to the area where I can at least shake hands witht the builder. I've been to several LBS but you can pretty much guage if they know what they're talking about when you talk about wheelbuilding. thanks for any info

super,
where abouts in the bay area are you?
"Dave" at The Bicycle Outfitters has a good rep -- he came from wheelsmith iirc.
The shop is in los altos -- you can go and talk to Dave (though you'll probably have to wait in line) and get a feel for what he knows -- present him w/ your problem and see what he says.
I'll build 'em too, but I'm not a pro; just very happy with my own work.

Good one C, I haven't been to that LBS for awhile. I usually go to LA(los altos) area and browse around the "good" LBS's and drool at the high end bikes they have on display. Another one is Chain Reaction, they have a huge inventory of good stuff too. I feel more comfortable talking to the guys at the Bicycle Outfitter though. I think Dave or Richard rides a Tetra all over the place including Europe during TDF time, which would probably give me a special treatment and get moved to the front of the line if I bring my Tetra
thanks for the tip... -gas

You could also try Cupertino Bike at 10493 South DeAnza Blvd. Talk to the owner Vance or either of the mechanics there (Big or Little John). I've had a couple of wheelsets built there and have been happy with the results. It's also where I bought my Tetra.
