#1628 - 03/06/04 08:16 PM (208.188.19.141)

Anyone order from Lickton's, www.lickbike.com?

Positives, negatives? Why?

Thanks,

codisc

Used them twice. Once for a Park Headset tool and once for a Gunnar Roadie with HS, BB and Wound UP fork.

Positives: good price, had what I wanted, delivered on time

Negatives: phone is busy a lot of the time, I don't really like ordering over the phone, they sent me the wrong BB installed in the frame

Would I use them again: depends on the item. If only they had it - yes. If I can get it for the same or less with a regular on-line ordering system - no. I realize they price match, but I prefer to go to a web page, find the item and buy it, not make repeated phone calls, ask for a price match and then place my order over the phone. But that;s just me. They're easy to deal with and if you prefer personalized service, they can't be beat.

I've used them twice. Ordering on the phone is a pain, but they shipped the same day both times. That's a lot more than I can say for Performance.

I've used them a couple of times. They're a little gruff on the phone, but the orders were correct and shipped in a timely fashion. Lickton's has been around for quite a while, has a brick and mortar location and has a pretty good reputation.

Performance has really changed in the last year or so. They used to drive me nuts. They were the best source for Body Glide so I had to buy from them. Now they usually ship the same day if you call early enough, I joined their Buyer's Club so I get 10% back, that upgrades shipping to 2 days, they will match anybody's price plus you get the 10% off on future purchases, and they are nice now. I mentioned this to a customer service person how much they had changed and she said they had a big change in how they hire people and so forth. After you join the Buyer's Club once you never have to pay again as you can use the credit from purchases. The 2 day upgrade is worth it alone. I was their biggest critic prior to this as they screwed up orders on me more than once. Now they are right there.

I never knew of the buyers club...will have to check this out. I have also noticed a upgrade with performance and their service.

By buyers club you mean team performance..right.

Right. Team Performance. I forgot the name. Old age at work. It is really worth it the 10% adds up. Also if you have them match a price you can really do well. I bought D/A shifters in the fall for $180 net with the 10% off. I then used the 10% credit and some I had for Clif Shot to get my front derailleur free. I never ever ever thought I would recommend that company. They really have cleaned up their act.

I ordered from Lick Bike earlier this year. As stated previously the whole phone thing is a pain in the butt. Their service though I found to be great. They were knowledgeable and if they could not answer a question they called the manufacturer and got right back to me.

I placed an order with Lickton's Thursday evening. The phone was answered on the first try. The person who took my order was businesslike and efficient. The parts came the next Wednesday as ordered and in good condition. Their price for the parts with shipping was the best price I could find on the net. If I knew exactly what I wanted and they had a good price I would order from them again.
