campy shifter
#2013 - 03/28/04 08:41 PM (67.80.98.28)

I know this belongs in the campy area, but I will ask anyway. I trust your opinions.

Has anyone has their camy front Ergopower shifter just lock up and not shift down to the small chain ring. I am riding the 2004 campy record. The rear locked up once and has not happen since. It seems to lock up and then when I fiddle with the small button it seems to work. I have about 300 miles on my new tetra pro. I have never had a problem with the chorus group on my other bike. Could this be a growing pain with campy? I do plan on taking the bike into the shop this week, mabye the cable are beginning to streach or a ferrule could have moved.... Any ideas?????
Thanks

Altho they do it on their own sometimes,it can be worsened by hoods that are not positioned carefully.Make sure all the little nubs on the rubber hoods are in the mating holes on the shifter body around the slot on the underside of the shifter.

Hope this helps,Dan C.

One suggestion would be to check to make sure that the rubber boot is properly seated and clear of all moving parts. This may seem obvious, but on mine looked and felt right, but it really wasn't. I had some similar problems as yours initially with my Record stuff and that was the culprit.

FWIW,
