living here in southern MA i expected to see lots of seven mtb's but i've only encountered one other in the last 2 years! i ride alot down the cape (otis/trail of tears) in the winter (don't ride mtb in summer) and some in RI but never see any other seven's. wonder how come-i think the sola's the best mtb i've ever ridden-it does everything well.

What type of mtb's do you meet on the trail? I have seen a few Axiom's in the DC area, but no Sola's. They do look nice.

the usual fare-specialized/trek etc. i'm surprised, being so close to the factory i figured to see more. seems like most people are going to FS, also. i like the simpleness and feel of a HT-haven't ridden a FS bike that i like yet, and that includes a buddies new BLUR. he couldn't stop raving about it but i don't get it. i won't ever get rid of the sola.

Terry,
You should try either the Seven Duo or Teres out. I own both and you won't find a better FS bike than the duo. It handles like a hardtail, eats up highly technical singletrack and the rear suspension never bobs when you point it uphill.
The Teres rides more like the sola with a little bit of suspension (1 1/8")that takes the edge of the sharp bumps. It loves technical trails and loves to climb. Both bikes are just great to ride which makes my decision to ride either one very difficult. Since your so close to the factory they may have a demo for you to try.

the one seven i've seen that i mentioned in my first post just happens to be a duo. i've taken it out for a short ride, not long enuf to get a real good feel for it. the owner raves about it every time i see him. anyway, i'm so happy with my sola that i really don't want any other mtb. for me my first love is the road-from march to oct. only ride the mtb from nov thru feb/mar and i have a blast doing it but i prefer the road & thus only want one mtb.

I've ever seen a grand total of two Sevens other than mine, and that was a husband/wife on a group ride last summer.

I've only seen one Seven hardtail on the trails in Metro Boston, and that was in the Houghton's Pond parking lot in the Blue Hills (who knows - maybe it was you? The owner and I had a brief talk about his new SRAM shifters...) It was a beauty.
I've only been mountain biking for 3 years, and never rode a hardtail. I've got a Klein Adept, which I'm happy with for now. But I can't imagine riding a hardtail through the Blue Hills. Maybe at Wompatuck, but the BH is my principal park. When I think about my next mt. bike, I think about the Superlight, Blur, or Palomino/Duo.
But when I think about my next road bike, I can't get my mind off an Ti Axiom. I've got an Axiom Steel right now, and it's sublime!

that wasn't me at the Blue Hills, i really don't care much for that place. maybe its because i don't ride a FS but stuff that rocky is not my thing. i don't mind some technical stuff but if the whole ride is just teeth chatering rocks/roots then i'm not interested. if you like great singletrack then you owe it to yourself to take a ride to Otis, 5 minutes over the bourne bridge. funny, you're thinking about an axiom ti and i was checking out an axiom steel the other day. everything they make is beautiful.

I love my Axiom Steel, but I know myself well enough to know that there will always be a 'next' bike. I bought my bike secondhand, and although it's great, it wasn't built to my specifications. (I feel bad saying anything bad about it at all!)
Someday, I'd like to see how close Seven can get to my idea of perfection. Ti will save weight, and since I'm confident that Seven can build a bike with the ride characteristics I want, and fit it precisely to me, it's likely that they'll get me as a repeat customer someday.

Here's my Sola. The frame is 5 years old and the parts come and go. Here it has a Pace RC31 rigid fork, Moots Ti post and stem, Sapim CX-Ray spokes, Dt-Swiss 240 hubs, Formula B4SL brakes and custom Boone Ti chainrings.
I can't imagine a better frame after all those years and miles.

very nice-kudos to you for full rigid. i thought i was old school with a HT when most of the guys i ride with have gone FS. i'm trying to get some pics of mine up-need to find a dig cam. also nice to see virtually no shimano. the only shimano on mine is the der's, and when i trash the rear i'm going XO or the new X-9. very nice.

Thanks Terry. Yeah it's quite un-rough where I mostly ride so suspension isn't necessary. I'm better off saving the 2 lbs. And that fork is the best rigid fork by far that I've owned. You'd swear that it had an inch of travel. It's so damn mellow.
I'm not a fan of Shimano really - even though my road bike is full of it - and the only Shimano on the 7 is the 8spd Ti cassette. I've got a few of them tucked away. Ooops I guess my front derailer is XTR.
I've been on SRAM stuff since '99 with zero problems and that XO derailer is a beauty.

I just picked up my new Sola steel from my LBS. If this rides 1/2 as good as it looks, it's gonna be super sweet. I wanted something to "compete" with my friends IF steel hardtail and this might just do it. I'll post pictures later....

I just took my new steel sola out for its maiden ride and it was awesome!! The ride was incredible and I was getting up and around things I could never try on my old bike. The balance is fantastic- it now makes sense of why to go custom. The only problem is that I got it dirty- it's such a gorgeous bike it pained me to do that. The seven mint color looks as great in reality as it does in the catalog.
