New '04 Bikes?
#2546 - 04/24/04 02:06 AM (66.82.9.17)

It appears that Dario has had some issues getting tubing and dealing with suppliers, this being the scuttlebutt outta' Gita and the word from a prominent and reliable dealer. I don't think there have been any new '04 bikes since a few Marcelos and the batch of 8:30am-s that arrived awhile back. I am in line for both an Emma of Big Legs and a custom Luigino that has a million details. Has anyone else gotten a bike? It's spring and I would LOVE if Emma arrived. It has been the bike I've been wanting since I first saw it. I ordered one pretty much immediately after I declined the orange one built for the Vegas show as being a tad too small. I almost regret not getting that one but it really is better to have a bike that fits perfectly than one that is a compromise. Anyway, I'm jonesin' my Pegorettis and wondering if anyone else is feeling this way.

I'll be in Italy next month and HOPE to have time to visit the shop. Dario was very kind and responsive to my query. I think the world of him both as a person and as a builder. So maybe I'll get the story there.

Well, this was mostly about nuthin'...sorry for that. Anyone going to spring for the 60aday offer to build? Dario last year said we could build any bike we wanted included a lugged frame...whoa...how cool would that be?

time is what I don't have to do that,

Dbrk-

I got a Palosanto a month ago but I don't know if it was an '03 or '04. I think it is an '04 as it is yellow and made with the SAT 14.5. The previous ones were blue with SAT 12.5 tubing. Or I could be wrong and the Palosanto was revised in '03.

Hope you get your frames soon.

Jim

P.S. oh yea, one sweet riding frame

columbus won't make our chain stays buddy! that's the issue....but there are rumours afoot about a dario role in the resurrection of a certain french tubing company......but douglas it don't look good for us to be riding any big legs this summer.....if you want a 56cm i know the boys at international bicycle center have got one...(one of two in the world as the jerk understands it chomp the wonder beaver has the other.)

On April 21, the Competitive Cyclist site announced that Columbus has decided to make the BLE tubes after all - CC expects them in June. See "What's New" for the story.

what was/is the issue with making the chainstays? is the difficulty their large diameter, or something else?

given all this, i feel fortunate to have my new shiny marcelo, for which i'm still trying to find the right wheels.

good luck, douglas and jerk, on the BLE watch.
