Kahuna,
First...thank you for getting the forums back online. Just curious on your thoughts about off-topic posts or general info that doesn't fit into a specific category. There might be fascinating stories, info, or whatever that may need a central location.
Or perhaps have a general discussion area for users to start at....However, given the conditions that caused the shutdown of the previous forum(s) I would understand if you did not want to consider this.
BTW - did anyone read the editorial,"The Bike-Path Left" in Wednesday's WSJ?

RDP,
Sure I have no problem creating a seperate category for general topic forums. However one nice thing about these forums is that they're not sponsored by any of these companies and as such we're not bound by outside rules. That means as long as the discussions are civilized and abide by the forum terms-of-service, the topics themselves can digress as far as the members in those forums care to take them. The idea is to build communities by using the theme of "common ownership" that attracts and bonds people together. Likewise, the idea of having different communities based on a similar principle (ie. Merlin versus Litespeed forum) gives people the opportunity to venture outside of their usual hangout and explore the other communties.
Take care,
-K
