MXL on a diet
#2672 - 04/30/04 08:47 PM (208.33.250.102)

OK, I've lost 30 pounds now it's time for my MX to follow suit. Now that I'm down to 162 at 6'2" shes feeling a bit more sluggish than I'd like. I lost the 36 spoke C-Record wheels and cassette and that shaved off an immediate pound and I'm wondering if ditching the rest of the C-Record in favor of 9 speed Dura Ace will make much of a difference. On paper it shouldn't be that much of a saving, but I'm always convinced that Campy lies about the weight of their stuff. Anybody have any experience with this?

i have DA 9 on my mxl and open pro's. whether they're lighter than your current set-up, i don't know. but for me, i totally forget the mxl's heft once the wheels start rolling. even climbing. maybe i'm cutting it lots of slack because i love the ride so much, but with the exception of short, explosive accelerations, i'd bet i go as fast on my mxl as i do on any frame i own. (not that that is exactly blindingly fast in ANY case but... )
