Where do tubes come from?
#2938 - 05/15/04 01:22 AM (4.12.238.35)

Apparently my garage offers favorable conditions to their reproduction.
Trying to make sense of the place, I found a group of three in a wagon, another three on my shelf with my other bike parts, and two more hanging over a garage whatever. These are loose tubes. If they have holes, why didn't I trash them? Or have them in a specific place to patch? If they're still good, why did I remove them? I also have another 5 in boxes on the part shelves. But why? Also, I know I have at least 2, maybe three, more in camelbacks.

I don't understand. These are not part of what I'd consider the compulsory purchase joy products of my bike world. I'd waste money meaninglessly on different things.

Where do they come from?

Hey Nev,
This time of year is perfect for the breeding season of tubes, and they usually prefer the sanctuary of garagus familioso. With all this proliferation going on, i hope you manage to breed a healthy crop of the ultra lite version.

I think tubes come from the same place that single socks go to hide.

Do they start as tubes, and grow into the boxes? Or are the boxes like tube eggs they eventually hatch out of? Which comes first? It's perplexing.

.. the boxes are the eggs of the tube species. The tubes hatch from the boxes. Very convenient storage by the way at the tube hatcheries. However most tube eggs are shipped to LBSs before they hatch.
