Mavic Wintech Computer
#31 - 12/19/03 05:06 AM (4.60.22.26)

Well, the mailman delivered the much anticipated Mavic wintech wireless computer today. So I shoveled down my supper and hauled the bike into the warm house to do the install.

The installation and setup is a breeze. The tire size setup is rounded out ie. 212 ...213 instead of the 2125 I was looking to enter.

The setup looks " very clean" but it's going to take a little getting used to having a friggin headlight on my stem, this thing is "HUGE" , but other than that I'm sure I'll keep it.

Please post images of your Wintech setup. Does it seem like the cycling equivalent of "WiFi"?

Where did you get it and what might one expect to pay? I was expecting this to come out in January.

What are the dimensions of the display unit?

Thank you.

1centaur,

I purchased it from excelsports for $99.00 without the cadence feature. They sold out all they had in only a couple of days. Jensonusa told me the same , that it wouldn't be in until January. But now their website says February 9th.

The unit is 1-3/4" wide x 2-3/4" long x 1-3/4" at it's tallest point mounted on the stem and not the bars, like most. It looks just like a mini headlight !

Here is a photo from jensons site. This picture is on all the sellers sites so I didn't want to post too many photos of it.

Hi Gary, glad to see you back !

I'll try it out and see if it will work under my butt and let you know. I do believe it has a light for night riding, I'll double check that too.

A post on Bicycling.com says there is no light.

Hi Gary, no light, but it did work just fine when I held it up behind the seat.

I will get one for my stoker. It will go on the top tube close to the captains seat post so the size should not be a problem.
After I see how it performs for the stoker, I may get one for the captain
Mauricio the owner of my LBS says mid Feb for delivery. He has ordered a dozen and hopes to get in half that many.
