Anyone else record cycling on TIVO?
First problem is the Lance Chronicles. I selected Season Pass/First Run Only, and the thing recorded every single episode. I had to go in and figure out which were what according to their air times since OLN (or DirectTV?) doesn't have specific episode descriptions -- same one for all of them.
Then, with the Giro d Italia, Season Pass/First Run Only is working fine. BUT, it's not taping the whole race -- recording them live during the day. I haven't seen the ending of stage 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6! P!ssed me off last night missing the end of 6 in the rain. Missed Mario's wipe-out. I had to go into the Season Pass and change the options to Stop Recording a Half Hour after each of the remaining stages.
My theory is it's OLN's fault for whatever data or whatever they're feeding Direct. I don't have this trouble for any other channels.

On taping time, this was true at last year's Giro as well. I now record the time slot AFTER the Giro every day so I don't have to worry. I'm not sure the race always starts on time, and OLN does not want 15 minutes of dead air time after the finish to fill, so taping strategies are essential. Not seeing the end of races is a killer, particularly on sprint stages where the end is the only part with any drama.
I also get a lot of Lance Chronicles taping, and sometimes it's not even the right show, using my ReplayTV.

I'm in the sports television business, so a lot of people have asked me your question regarding DVRs and the Giro.
The first daily OLN broadcast (9:30AM EDT) is live, and therefore unpredictable; it usually runs either short or long. The situation is made worse by the Giro's notoriously sloppy parcours/distance descriptions, on which Paul Sherwin commented yesterday. The Giro organizers are just basically taking a WAG (wild-ass guess) as to when the finish will occur. The daily rebroadcast (1:00 PM EDT) is edited; the footage is cut down so that the finish and the awards ceremony make the show.
Just tape/DVR the 2nd show, because (obviously) the footage OLN's editors cut out is the most boring stuff they can find, and they make sure the juicy parts make the cut.
It's not OLN's fault. With all due respect to a lovely country with wonderfully spirited people, making live television in Italy is....shall we say.....an adventure. Take it from someone who has done it quite a bit.

I have DirectTV with Tivo on the West Coast.
OLN put Road to the Tour in as a Series and they don't indicate which episode is first run and which is a rerun so everything looks like first run and Tivo records it all. So every week or so I edit my todo list and delete the reruns from the recording schedule
OLN put the Lance Chronicles in as a Special so the first showing was recorded then I had to go and manually schedule the additional episodes (it's either this or recording all showings then editing the todo list...).
Anyway, I think these are both OLN (not DirectTV or Tivo) problems.
Regarding the Giro, I have been watching the end of the stage or recording the show after the scheduled stage so I can see the end. I wasn't sure if the afternoon showing was edited. Maybe I'll just start recording that.

Pause, rewind, pause, rewind, pause....
Wish I'd kept the first two Roads to the Tour. I liked how they dressed her then.
