Just checked out the LandShark homepage for the first time in a while. John's now gluing together carbons frames using the Dedaccaciai DCS system.

I can understand the business reasons for John to do this but since this is a packaged system, the custom aspect of the DCS bike is the paint job.
Furthermore, the lugging system is butt ugly. The bike reminds of some PVC with ugly connecting fittings leading from a sump pump. This is the antithesis of the beautiful Slawta brazing that typifies the LandShark.
I guess that steel must be really dying out.

At least for now carbon is all the rage. It wasn't too long ago that folks wanted Ti everything. Now they want carbon everything whether there is a significant advantage or not to that material. Personally I would not want a light all carbon stem...but that is me. Who knows what material is next.
There will always be a market for steel. I prefer carbon for weight, stiffness and practicality since I ride all year in all types of weather.
That said if I had the money and room I'd love to have a steel frame to ride as well. A friend of mine is not riding his Waterford as much and I quickly asked him if he wanted to sell it. Unfortunately his answer was no.

I love my reynolds road shark...it's light and responsive. It climbs and is reliable. Carbon Fiber is cool and light...but my steel shark is the nicest ride I've ever felt. I know it's a totally subjective thing to say...but when I ride it "feels" objective...if you know what I mean....
If someone wants carbon and are willing to pay John the extra scratch...why not. John may be an artisan...but he's also a business man. Yeah...they look different and the lines don't flow...but as long as he keeps making steel...what do I care.

A good friend and riding buddy of mine rides a steel Land Shark with carbon fork and steerer which has all received a custom paintjob. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. If purchasing a Land Shark, my preference would be to stick with steel, which he seems to do best, IMHO.
