Well I placed my order for my Ti Crown Jewel almost two weeks ago. According to IF I still have at six more weeks to wait. My order started out being a steel crown jewel. A couple of days later I changed the order to ti, unpainted. A couple more days passed and I changed it to a 3/4 silver paint job. Three more days passed and I changed the paint job to the pearl orange. I figured as much as the frameset is costing me I might as well get a color that I really like. Has anyone else had as much problem deciding on a color as I have?
Also, I'm having a really tough time going without a roadbike. Anyone have any good IF stories to help me endure the wait?
Oh yeah, one last thing. Anyone have any picures of a pearl orange crown jewel? I haven't been able to find any pictures anywhere except for the one picuture of the frame on the if website.
Thanks everyone.

Congrats on the Crown Jewel order! I know what it's like trying to pick a color. And with an IF, it's not just the color but the entire color scheme including which decals. I think I made a good run at seeing absolutely every bicycle photo on the internet. At least it felt that way.
I haven't seen a pearl orange IF, but my dealer had a solid orange for me to look at (I think it was the Omaha Orange). It was a great color that I almost picked. I suspect the pearl will be even better.
IF stories? The feeling of excitement and anxiety when the dealer calls and says that the bike's ready. There's still that little bit of lingering doubt that it may have been the wrong choice. Then you see it and it's absolutely gorgeous. And after the first few rides and you realize that it was a great choice. What a feeling of happiness and relief.
What decals did you pick to go with the pearl orange?

Thanks for the encouragement.
I ordered the silver on black decals. I'm hoping that they look right on it.

Congratulations! I just got my bike about 4 weeks back. My color is a Candy Blue with 3/4 Ti with Silver/Black decals. I think you will really love the bike and the Color/decal choice.

I ordered a Planet X Ti with a steel fork disc only setup about 3 months ago, March 5 and don't expect delivery until June 20th. I ordered Pearl Orange also. As soon as I get it I will post pics. If you get yours in six weeks then that is real fast. I talked to IF early this week and was told it should go to welding and then shot peening and then paint. So I believe I am still looking at 3 weeks before my LBS receives the frame. It has been a very long wait and I hope I am really pleased with my bike. I went with the Planet X because I wanted disc brakes and will have the option of some off road use. It will probably mostly see road use though. Not a racer just a rec rider.

When I placed the order they told me that they had just gotten their order of titanium in and that pretty much all of the ti bikes on order were going to be about the same time (8 weeks). However, I know that anything bike related takes longer than expected.
I hope you get yours in the three weeks they are saying. Today makes exactly two weeks since placing my order, I'm starting to wonder if I should have gone with steel. If I would have gotten steel I would have my frame in another week or two. I'm sure the extra month or so wait will be worth it in the long run though.

I had doubts creep in when I was told 8-10 weeks. But I went ahead because I know a few riders who swore it was worth the wait...and they were absolutley correct! It is worth the time, actually I got the frame in just 2 days under eight weeks. Pics are on the way, need to borrow a digital camera, my friend keeps forgetting to bring it in, should have some posted in the next few days. Hang in there you will be so happy you did.

i've been riding my new crown jewel ti for the past few weeks. it is absolutely the most wonderful frame i've ever ridden. i could not be a happier camper. yes, the wait was a tad long, and yes, it was hard to wait. but the result is everything i had hoped for. the workmanship is flawless, and the ride is exactly what i had wanted. hang in there. you will be rewarded.

Ti doesn't rust and last forever. Besides it is sexier than steel.

I need to make a correction, I ordered my bike April 5 not March 5 so it has been 2 months not 3 months. Yes I know there has been a Ti shortage, but it seems like it has been a very long time. However by the time I get my frame it will be close to 3 months since I believe it is still 3 more weeks away. One a positive note I found out that IF is trying to make my racks mounts as correct as possible with the disc dropout. Seems the manufacturer is sending a couple of racks to IF to make sure the rack mounts don't interfere with the disc brakes. Old Man Mountain is the rack builder who I would highly recommend.
