while waiting for my frame i have ordered most of my components. i'm getting the fsa k-wing carbon handle bar. there are lots of different bar tapes out there with foam or gel. i'm wondering whether if i really need one since the bar is already carbon which should absorb some road chatter. i'm leaning towards getting a regular cork bar tape. i like the feel of cork and i don't want the bar to feel too thick or mushy--although it would be nice if the tape dampens the vibration. any experience with different tapes mentioned above? also note that the bar has a flat top. will the top be covered with tape? any suggestions. thx.

Bar tape? What do you need that for, don't cover up those sweet new bars. Just kidding of course.
I use the gel tape and it works great, any extra absorbtion (is that a word) goes a long way. At least it's not a pricey item and can replaced without breaking the bank if you don't like it.
Good Luck.......

I use Cinelli. Excel Sports has the best prices, least expensive shipping, and the best selection.

I would stick with cork. Those bars are already a bit chunky, although very comfy based on a short ride I did on them.
Lon is right, cinelli is the best.
They also also sell them at Jenson for $9.

thx guys. you just confirmed my decision of going with cork. cinelli is my first choice. i think gel might be overdoing it with a carbon bar. i presume the top won't be covered with tape coz it would be super wide and thick.
