Converting to campy, need one piece.
#3505 - 06/25/04 02:13 PM (129.71.207.144)

I am building up a new bike and I have bought all my new campy record parts. The parts are all going on an IF ti crown jewel. I have Hugi 240 hubs laced to sun me14a rims that were on my old bike. The old bike was shimano. Hugi/DTSwiss makes a conversion kit for their hubs but everyone is out, including QBP and DTSwiss. Does anyone have any ideas where I can find one of these? I have tried all of the major e-tailers and I have had no luck.

Thanks in advance.

Low cel to be honest you will be surprised just what that cassette conversion part for your Hugi hub is going to cost you seperately. I priced one for a Spinery wheel i had and it was close to 80 dollars, and i'm sure the Hugi stuff is not going to be any cheaper for sure.
Since the bike is almost all Campy already, it would not be that much more money to just buy a Record rear Hub and convert the wheel.
I know that you may have thought of this idea already but in reality you might also be better off just selling your Hugi wheelset and converting completely to some Campy wheels.

I thought about having another wheelset built but honestly since the part is less than $50 at dealer cost I am definately going to go with the conversion if any of the wholesalers ever get one in. Most of the e-tailers sell this piece for $80-100 dollars, when they have it in stock. I really like this wheelset and it is extremely light so I would like to keep it. If I can't find the conversion kit in the next couple of weeks I'll probably just order another hugi hub, sun me14 rim and then build it up. If ya can't tell, I really like hugi hubs.

You can use a conversion cassette .

Thank you. I saw those but I had already bought my campy cassette. Plus, to be honest the biggest cassette available like that is a 25. Living in WV I need something a little bigger than that, at least for now.

I ended up just buying a new wheelset from Mike Garcia at www.oddsandendos.com . He built me up a set of american classic hubs laced to dtswiss rr 1.1 rims. Total weight (on scale) is 1407 grams!

Thanks for the help though, it is appreciated!
