After many years I am about to accept a new job offer and that means I can revive my old job hopping tradition of blowing the first month's salary on whatever I want, and leading the boring life I do all I can think of is bike stuff.
I currently have a custom Tetra Pro and the first thing I could think of was to get a custom Dfly. Other than weight, how are they different in ride, feel and all those other nebulous characteristics? I am particularly interested in how the stiffness compares between stock Dfly and Tetra frames.
thanks!

My Calfee dealer said the one thing he sometimes hears is that Dragonflies are a little too stiff compared to Tetras. I would bet the sample size is low (thought these guys sell a lot of Calfees), especially if we are talking about long term users of both.

Go back to the old phorum and do a search. This was discussed when the DFly was new. I believe some people either had both or had ridden both. I do remember one person saying he felt the DFly had a more "plush" feel.

I bought a Tetra Pro a few months ago and was also considering the D'fly. After talking to members of this forum I ended up e-mailing Craig. He said that the D'fly is a stiffer ride and will not absorb road shock quite as well as the Tetra.

I would shoot for a bit more variety. Maybe a fine Spectrum steel bike, or perhaps a Strong, Serotta, etc. The D-fly is probably very close to the Tetra - just a tiny bit of weight difference. Now if you are hooked on carbon, as I am, then maybe this would be a good time for one of those 5900SL's.
