ti seven stem
#3899 - 08/13/04 09:48 AM (62.6.139.12)

aloha.
just popped a seven ti stem on my verve singlespeed.

the steerer clamp bolts seem to crack and ping a fair old bit as you approach correct torque setting of 55 in/lbs.
any one had any seizure issues?

im using thick grease...

cheers, jon

Ti requires anti-seize not grease or it will seize.

I use a Seven Ti stem on my Ottrott and it used to pop and ping under strain, such as climbing efforts. I greased the clamp threads, wrapped the bolts with teflon tape (much like I do with bottom brackets) then re-installed and torqued the bolts. Presto, no more pops and pings!
