Solano or Firenze
#3900 - 08/13/04 12:44 PM (81.134.13.27)

I'd like to buy a road bike this month and after a lot of research and discussion with my LBS, am now seriously considering either a Solano or Firenze (unfortunately my budget doesn't stretch to a Tuscany!).
It will be used primarily for fitness work and depending on motivation, maybe some competition next year. Comfort is my most important criteria.
I apparently fit a size 53 perfectly, am mid 40's and weigh 69Kgs. Also, the Solano comes with Real Design Supersonics - does anyone have experience of these?

Thanks for your help.

You might try here. A very active forum but not Litespeed specific. You could get lucky:

Also try Litespeed's site. Click on members and then register there. Slightly less active than this group (zzzzzzzzzz...) but you'll be closer to potential sources.

Hey, what's the status on Bob Jackson frames out there these days anyway? What's their status in the scheme of all things bikes? Good? Bad? Past their glory? I just got my father's Jackson from the 60s. I'm working on getting it back on the road. Check my posts on this site under Campy parts and General Discussion for the low down.

I got me a
Good luck to you,

Thanks Nev

Went onto the Litespeed members forum and had a look - some useful titbits there.

Just about to call my LBS to have a final discussion and sort out test rides with them before placing an order; it's still pretty close between these two... and a Bianchi AluCarbon SL3 (they have alway had an emotional pull with me, especially in the celeste house colour).

I reckon either Litespeed bike will be great; I guess it's down to the cosmetics of the traditional round tubes vs. the GET stuff on the current models.

I followed your posts on your father's Bob Jackson with interest. Unfortunately, I don't have much knowledge here. This did however bring back memories of when my dad gave me his old Honda C50 moped (some 20+ years ago) and I promptly customised it to resemble what I though Batman's motorbike would look like.....................bad mistake.
All subseqent restorations have been sympathetic to the original!
