Ghisallo headset question
#3951 - 08/21/04 07:11 AM (24.18.148.212)

Hey there-
Long time visitor, first time poster. Ok, so I am wondering if any Litespeed experts know the history of the Ghisallo headset evolution. When I go to the LS website, it says nothing about it but shows what appears to be a King non-integrated in the picture. When I click the components link, it shows all component levels as coming with an integrated headset. The Competitve Cyclist website shows a King nothreadset as well and says it requires a 1 1/8 threadless headset. I've read on here that many Litespeeds went to integrated in 2002. So, regarding the Ghisallo, is it integrated or not? When it came out (2002) was it integrated? Has it changed? When? Any info would be great; I have a frame on its way to me and would like to order the headset ahead of time but can't seem to nail it down.....

One of my teammates has a 2004 Ghisallo and it definitely has a NON-integrated headset. The Ghisallos always have had the nons.

I believe Litespeed does this on the Ghisallo alone because switching to integrated would add a few hundred grams to the bare frame, which would make their well-publicized light-weight claims for the bare frame a little bit less astonishing.

Thanks for the reply. Your info seems to match every photo I've ever seen of one. I guess that the component section for the Ghisallo on the Litespeed website must be the same for all models, since every other frame is integrated. Can't wait to set it up; at some point, we all need a new toy!
