There's a thread on Bicycling.com that seems to be agreeing that Pegoretti paint is extremely fragile/chip prone, to the point of being a consideration in buying one, in my opinion. Would the Peg fans here care to argue the opposite side?

I've put both Marcelo and Fina through numerous trials and indignities, including trips to Italy in the soft Sci-Con bag and both have held up remarkably well paint-wise. Chipping has not been a problem for me, especially considering the abuse.

I think some of his earlier paint wasn't of the most-durable stuff, but the past few years we have seen great paint jobs with excellent finish work. All paint chips with enough abuse. Dario's stuff of late is durable as DBRK attests - and man is Pegoretti coming up with some rad(ical) paint job options. Put a coat of wax and an accordian chainstay protector on and enjoy the ride.

I have found the paint to be very durable on my palasanto. Better than most.

i have four pegs and the paint on all four is holding up very well. the oldest frame is three years old, and the previous owner rode it hard, and paint is like new.
