Warm soapy water. Typically though, most road dirt and grime comes off with a wet cloth. -------------------- Steel lover, but then I like Ti with carbon too. Licensed bike geek. Now I use that for 90% of my cleaningand don't need any chemicals or cleaning agents at all! If I have to I use T1 Boeshield made by Boeing(yea the plane people). You can find it in most LBS these days. Amazing stuff that cleans and protects at the same time. For lube no way you can beat Dumonde Tech but that's another thread Oh and one thought...NEVER USE WD40 ON YOUR DRIVETRAIN!!!! WD40 is a degreaser that breaks down lubes, it doesn't lubricate like a lot of folks think, it actually dries things out and repels lube while attracting dirt like a dustmop. I saw a post on Slowtwitch from a guy using WD40. He really needs heads up because he 100% guaranteed to be replacing at least the bearings if not the entire hub in his rear wheel. That's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. Even what feels dry to the touch is enough to get back in those hubs and in no time break down the grease pack. Before you know it you're grinding metal against metal in your bearings and eventually they'll crack and lock up the wheel or blow up. Either way it not a pleasant surprise. Hope some of that helps!
