How about Tyler Hamilton's ride in the olympics? His time trial win was sweet! Not that you could really follow it with NBC's coverage. I think that NBC should pump up cycling coverage with the good (relatively) ratings that the Tour de France got. Track cycling is relegated to Midnight coverage.

I woke up the night after the Trial and I got to see about 1/2 of it. I was just lucky. Now the track events...you hardly even hear what happened. It is a shame. When Marty was riding they promoted it and now it is no where.

Marty won, that's why track got some airtime from Sydney. The American host broadcaster won't show track cycling again until someone from the American team starts winning.

Don't hold your breath.

It's not that the US doesn't have talent, it's just that the big trackie countries like Australia, Germany, Britain, Russia, and France POUR money into track cycling, whereas the US team gets diddly squat in terms of gov't $$$. The US athletes have to depend on US Cycling for funding, which - shall we charitably say - is not one of the best-organized NGBs in the world.

But there is hope. The worst, most incompetent NGB I've ever worked with is the USSA (ski racing). Yet Bode Miller, Kristy Koznik, and Daron Rahlves are all favorites to win their respective World Cups and Olympic medals, so it _CAN_ be done in the USA despite the handicap of, by and large, terrible NGBs.
