Need Help With Fork Rake new
#4164 - 09/19/04 01:00 AM (24.8.50.243)

I just ordered a DF, and since I'm getting the clear finish, I decided there was no real advantage to getting the fork with the frame. However, after shopping for forks, I'm unsure which rake to choose. I'll probably go with a sub 3.
Does anyone know what rake would ship with a frame from the factory. It seems the most common are 40/41 and 45mm. I like how the Dfly I test rode handled with the sub 3 from the factory, and would like to keep that feel.

TIA,

Chris

Fork rake, from what I understand, is calculated by (among other things) frame size, etc. Not sure what you're trying to save by doing your own fork...but, let Calfee do it. Depending on the frame size, your weight, etc...they determine the fork rake. They can also match the paint to the frame...including decals. Your spending a lot of money on that DF frame...either consult with your LBS or let Calfee do it.

Enjoy the DF...awesome frame!

you need to post the head angle of your frame,as that determines the best rake choice.

Calfee refinishes the forks(even the clear ones) to match the frames. They also check rake/alignment so you do get something for the extra $.

That said,a friend got a clear Luna and bought the fork elsewhere, and it looks and works fine.

This is a trail calculator and may be helpful. Most think that trail on a roadbike should be in the 57-59mm range.Less trail = quicker steering and more trail = slower steering.
