Yes, this was the result of re-using the old image gallery database and merging it with the new forum user database here. What's happening is that photos posted before the change had previously been assigned user IDs corresponding with the users in it's own database. This gallery user database is no longer being used however the photos that were posted before the merge have been retained for everyone's viewing enjoyment. These old photos still have the old user IDs associated with them, and many of them conflict with the user ID's now appearing in the new forum database.

Example:

Joe Blow signed up to the gallery last year and was assigned user ID 101. He posted 3 photos.

New forums created and it's user registration database now becomes the same one as the gallery. The old gallery user database is decommissioned but all the old photos are retained.

Joe Blow's photos are still visible in the gallery and are seen as his until Jane Smith comes along and registers on the new forum. Jane happens to be assigned user ID 101 because she registers right after Bob Flanagan who was assigned user ID 100.

Now Joe Blow's 3 photos show up as belonging to Jane Smith. <yikes!>

I'm pretty sure this is fixable by going into the gallery database and manually re-assingning photo IDs where appropriate and renaming the image files (they all have the IDs prepended to the filenames). Anyway you can see what a snafu this is but eventually I think I'll be able to get it all sorted out. I'm eager to do this sooner rather than later because of a neat feature I just added to the forum. It's not visible now but I added a code modification that puts a little icon next to the username that links to all their photos. It's really cool but right now I'm afraid to enable it because of the problems I've just described.
