The big trade show is this week. However Craig never does anything based on a "new model year." His changes are true changes and improvements. I would not expect anything because nothing is needed that I know of.

What? No change for the sake of change? No following chic trends? I knew I liked this company.

I at least expected Calfee to come out this year with a compact frame with an integrated headset that was only available in 3 sizes and handcrafted in South Korea.

How about a jersey at least? Is that too much to ask for?

I think the prices went up a bunch IMO still a good deal compared to comparable (if there are such) frames.

I was wondering about this (and was going to call Calfee next week). My guess was that Calfee does not have the concept of a model year. Rather, they just tweak as ideas surface.

This make the recent price increase more annoying, for those of us that were planning to buy our first Calfee in the next month or so. I'd be getting the same exact bike as I would have two weeks ago, but just for more money.

One thing you can say about having model years is that it makes price increases more palitable. If the '04 costs a certain amount, and the '05 costs $400 more, you feel like you are getting something for your money (whether you are or not is, perhaps, a different story). There is also usually a transition period, in late summer/fall, where you can choose to save money and get the '04, or spend more for the whizbang '05.

Right now I just feel like I got screwed by the calendar.

His prices are still the same or less than comparable frames. Limited production, USA made, made to order costs more. Craig is getting rich by any means.

Call about the frame specials that are listed if you are a 58 or 56. The prices are not up any longer. I guess they have changed.

You know the saying...he who hesitates...

Still I know it is tough to see a price change. I'd search the dealers that have something in stock. I would guess you could get one at the lower prices.

Good luck.

I was at Interbike but did not spend a lot of time at the Calfee booth but I did see a Tetra with low slung seat stays (mounted about mid way up the seat tube). It kind of looked like a mountain bike swing arm but attached to the seat tube and not a shock. Not sure of the point, smaller wheels maybe?? They had the same recumbent as last year that has never made it to reality and had the bamboo bike, a cross bike, dragonfly and tandem and maybe some others that I cannot remember.

Check out www.labicicletta.com. They are still advertising Calfees for the old price. They may still honor the "pre-price increase" rates.
