MX Leader 2005 Need Help Campy or New Dura Ace
#4352 - 10/15/04 01:43 AM (68.206.254.192)

I placed my order for a MX Leader from competitive cyclist. They brought one back 54 cm Motorola color and no chrome on the right chain stay from the Vegas show last weekend. I know this is problably a Ford or Chevy question but, I am debating on building it up with Record or the new Dura Ace. Can someone tell me what you think is the better component system to go with? I have never had Campy and the new Dura Ace bottom bracket and cranks look very solid. I do like the cable routing of the Campy shifters better. Both groupos are comperable in price. If anyine would like to see the picture of the new 2005 MX LEader, let me knmow and I will post it. Brendon sent me a pic from the show today.

Campy. Everybody get a Shimano. Be different
Campy can be repaired while Shimano is use and replace. Dura Ace STI lever shifter assembly will fail. On the other hand what would you buy as you new truck? A Lexus or a Fiat?
I feel campy set-up is more 'slick' on the habdlebar. Shimano STI is wider and will better support your wrists. I dislike all them cables running naked from the Shimano STI while Campy tokk care of this aspect as well.

Gotta take issue with this. I've used Dura Ace seemingly forever and have had *zero* failures or malfunctions.

Personal preference is one thing as we all have our faves, but to repeat internet 'stories' is entirely another.

I'm sure that Campy stuff has failed, as has Shimano. Ford or Chevy, take your pick.

It may be true you know, but most high-end campys are rebuildable. It's a good enough reason for me. And it looks better. On the other hand, sooooo many good riders get Dura Aces - Shimano must be doing something good here. Don't they?

I vote for DA because that's what Motorola used. Plus, I have personal preference for it. I'd love a Motorola or 7 Eleven Merckx!!!

My Dura Ace has also been very good. Zero problems with 14,000 miles on this bike. The deciding factor for me was the shifters since I don't want to push a tab with my thumb to upshift.

My old 80s Merckx became "Shimanolo" equipped over the years. It was a workhorse, not a showpiece. The passions over which company is best crack me up.

Ultegra on The Corsa and DA for the MX. Use what you like..

Both have big wins to their names! Try the campy, if you like , go with it. I am currently running a mix of Dura Ace & Sram Force. With great results.
