PARLEE Z1sl - 825gr
#4428 - 10/22/04 01:22 PM (68.116.202.3)

I've been asked to provide some info on the new frame, so here it is.

First, the scale would sometimes wander, so let's call it 825 grams to be safe.

The Z1sl is our new super-light frame. The 825 gram frame that we showed at Interbike was a 53cm frame, complete and ready to ride. That weight included seat clamp, two sets of water bottle bosses and nuts, fancy new carbon adjustable cable stops, and a nice gloss clear-coat.

The weight was reached by designing a new tube set using lighter carbon, plus changing around some of the lay-up of the lugs, and a couple other little tricks.

At this point, we are saying the frame will be available in "the spring". Basically we need to spend some more time testing it and riding it.

Based on the testing we will be setting a weight limit and/or frame size limit. We also will probably be limiting the warranty on the frame to three to five years.

Since this is really a change in tube set, we also have the ability to mix tubes on the same bike. We are working on a test of this on a 60cm frame for Bob.

I think we have some pictures in the digicam, and if so, I'll upload one here. You can see a picture of it on VeloNews as well. VeloNews article with Z1sl frame photo.

Doug,

Please update the images on your website...it goes without saying how wonderful the frames/bikes are to the eye. Better yet, load up the BFC gallery with them.

BTW - Does Parlee have the capability to produce sloped customs yet? Zinn's latest comments were that, "[Parlee]... has also come up with new molds so that he can do previously unattainable angles."

Looking forward to the view.

Richard

We'll be providing custom geometry Z3c compact frames starting around Jan/Feb timeframe. Right now we're just waiting on the molds.

We also showed the Z1t, a tri/TT geometry frame at Interbike, which is probably what Leonard is talking about. We can do 76deg seat angles on the smaller sizes at this point, and should have a full mold set in house by January to allow up to 76deg seat angles on all custom frames.

Photos and more info will be available on the website... soon... I'm waiting for a review copy of the site right now.

If you can't wait, drop us an e-mail, and Jon and I will snail-mail you our new catalog.
