I know you're all mostly a bunch of roadies (same here, half the time) but I have a Strong steel hard tail ordered up. He said I should see it early January. Yup, Nev

YO! skagwayroadie, I was just thinking about you today actually.
NOOOOOOOOOO! Not yet. Carl sent the frame to get painted last week. Here: www.spectrumpowderworks.com Then it's back to Strong for the final touch ups. I need a headset, seatpost and shifters. Everything else is burning holes in my garage. I've had to be patient.
I've seen two rounds of photos, with and without the braze-ons. I probably have another couple weeks.
Hey, I'm going to AZ next weekend to ride the 24hrs in the Old Pueblo. Heard of it? We're riding a 5 person 200+ -- we're all over 40. Last year I biffed good and broke two ribs so we didn't finish. Year before we got 3rd in the same category. It's a big race. I'll be on my Epic. Should be a good time.
How's the weather up there? You getting any riding in? It's been all rain and muddy trails here. So I've only been on my roadie machine and fixed gear Fuji.

Good to hear from you Nev. I can't wait to see the hardtail. Let us know when you get it! I am thinking of getting a Klien hardtail later this summer, after a Calfee frameset comes to my house!!
It has been a whie since I left Arizona, but I recall the name. I am competing in a 152 mile relay race in the solo division in June, that is about the longest I have ever raced. I would love to try a 24 hour event..exhausting but so much fun!
The weather has been interesting. The last 6 weeks or more has been cold, very windy and lots of snow - yeah! Planes are not flying much, and the road has been closed for days at a time due to either avalanche or drifting snow condidtions. X-country skiing has been great. Today, for a change, we have a blustery southern tropical flow, rather than an icy northern gale and it is dumping rain. I should be able to skate to work this afternoon, then swim home tonight once the ice melts! Otherwise, I have been cranking on the Spin bikes(I teach 4 nights a week), since my winter bike - my summer stead with studs and fenders, is on the stand getting a major overhaul and component upgrades for this spring and summer dirt fest!
Thats all for now...one thing is for sure, the days sure are getting longer. Gaining almost 30 minutes a week of daylight...it is gonna be a good summer for sure!!! ...Mark

For those interested.
Here's a lousy photo of my new custom Strong steel frame. When I first got it built I went through a mild, and short, period of panic that some things didn't seem right about it. Carl was completely cool dealing with my irrationalities. But after some tweaks (minor, needs one more cut to the steerer tube) and finally getting it on the trail I was HUGELY impressed. Surprised how smooth it was after riding full suspension for 3 years. It really feels fast. Agile. Sturdy. Light. Precise. Tracks well. It's easy to move around. It just goes. It's comfy. I'm very happy. It's a hair over 24 pounds. Horrors I know to you roadies, but not too shabby for the dirt, especially with the stuff I have on it. My 17 lb road bike still gets attention, but now that I have my lights back I'm working this steel puppy into the predawn and after work rides -- although next week I'm starting a 20 mile Monday morning FIXED ritual.
When I take a better photo I'll submit that to my gallery.

Love the paint Nev. It looks fast and anxious to tear up the trails!
