Does anyone here know what bike manufacturers use Ancotech titanium tubes? The reason I am asking is because I know that they were a supplier of tubing for the MV22 Osprey and one of the crashes was due to a failure a titanium tube in an engine nacelle. Ancotech was dropped as a supplier because testing indicated their tubes did not meet spec and they did not respond to inquieries from the prime contractors.
I would imagine that Seven, Moots, Merlin, and others use Ancotech as well. However, the degree of stress in a military aircraft and that typically found in a bicycle are going to be very different.
True enough, metal that does not meet stringent specifications such as though in high-pressure fluid lines can be perfectly fine for bicycle tubing of the highest caliber. The failure of Ancotech to even respond to the customer at all tells something about their quality and company management.
