It has 3-4 year old parts and tubulars...if that is what you want.

If a new frame and fork is quoted as 2700+ (depending on fork) on the website, then why is 2000 (assuming the reserve isn't actually 3k...) such a bad deal for a used record equipped bike with speedplays, etc.?

Personally I don't think it is bad deal. It isn't a great deal for the buyer or the seller. It appears to me to be a fair price. I have always felt that a fair used price is about 1/2 of what it would be new. It seems to be in that ballpark. It the seller wants more than that it is unrealistic based on the marketplace conversely if the buyer wants significantly less than 1/2 he is unrealistic as well. You only get that good of a deal if the seller is desperate.
It is carbon Record so it can’t be that old plus Record lasts forever. I love my FSA cranks. Selcof makes an outstanding headset that is one of the lightest made. It is also designed from the “ground” up to not pitch carbon a steerer. Chorus for a bottom bracket is essentially Record there is so little difference. The wheels I have. The Ambrosio Crono 20 was a favorite of the Peloton for years and is very light. The wheelset will come in between 1400 and about 1450 grams. I have 32 spokes and I’m a little shy of 1500. The only complaint you could make is the front has a non-Campy hub. If that is a big deal a Record front hub isn’t that expensive. It would be super anal and thus dumb but not expensive.
I sent a link to a friend’s brother. However he has his heart set on a Fly.

I emailed the seller, he said the reserve is 2350. Not such a bad deal. Funny, almost exactly what you said Lon, about half! I saw a fly in a LBS. Very light, but I think the tetra looks nicer because of the way the lug area is done. The fly looks more like a luna. Just asthetics, of course..

Clearly the posts that are of value tell you the reasoning for their judgement on the price of the bike. Simply saying NO means absolutely nothing to anyone else but the person saying no. I think the bike is fairly priced for what the seller says it has on it and the way he treated it.
Why I would want to know is the reason why those who said no said it for.

You can find Tetra Pros for that around $2000. Be patient.

I said no at this time since there are better or cheaper deals if you put some time and look around. I found one but not his size and I hardly searched. of course, JMHO
GBW asked and looks like he might have a hard time deciding if it is a good deal with what are already posted

went back and looked at the auction, seems like it is a nice deal if you can get the bike at around 2400 +/-. It'll be sweeter if seller pays the transfer of warranty. again, just my opinion.

I see other Calfees, but new Calfee framesets on ebay seem to be at around 2k. The ones that are lower priced are usually odd sizes, or tri geometries, etc. At 2350 it seems like a good deal fully built with those components. I don't see how warranty is an issue, as if a product has a defect that will be covered by warranty, it will show up long before 2 or 3 years goes by..

My Airborne had its carbon seatstay glue dry out or loosen up or whatever after two years, and they pulled away from the rear dropouts. Fortunately I noticed this while re-decaling the bike, and they just re-glued it. Things do show up down the road a bit sometimes...

Another plus for doing the warranty thing is that the bike will be registered or recorded by Calfee under the name of the new owner.

Highest bid was 2175, didn't meet the reserve, which means that the seller is not obligated to complete the sale.

It didn't sell on EBay, so he's offering it for $2200.00 plus shipping on this forum (http://www.bikefanclub.com/forum/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/5286/page/0/view/collapsed/sb/5/o/all/fpart/1
I've done some business with the seller and think highly of him.

I hope Kevin, I think that's his name "KevinB", holds it 'til the roadie season heats up that way he can unload at maybe 2400-2600. I don't see too many folks looking for a new ride with this kind of weather right now. I buy bikes and parts during this time and sell some of them when Lance rides the tour which I hope he will for the 7th time.
