I just posted this on the Calfee site, where I usually am, but thought maybe some might appreciate the post here as well.
I saw the Synapse yesterday. I think it's around 16lbs with Ksyrium SL's and a CF Coda crank. It has a bit longer HT than the six-13 and the Caad's. I believe it has a slightly longer wheelbase as well. So it ought to be a just a bit more upright and a tad comfier than their racing frames.
It doesn't appear to be quite as laid back as the Specialized Roubaix...but is along those lines. In other words, it will not be directly competing with their other racing frames, though one could easily race it.
I'm not keen on the finish. Kind of a charcoal matte black with clearcoat decals showing just the CF weave.
I didn't ride it...yet.

I find it interesting that I couldn't find the Synapse on Cannondale's web site. I could find plenty of reviews and comments and pics of the bike on different web sites, though.
I had a Cannondale road bike years ago and liked the fit. It was a sport-touring model and I can't remember details now. I think it was green.

I am SO disappointed - I thought for sure we'd get to the July 5th anniversary of the last post in the Cannondale forum, and I could use the opportunity to post the pics of my Six13 I didn't post last year.
I think the Synapse is an odd choice for Cannondale - a comfort bike that reeks of generic production. Undercutting the chance to enter the CF fray with a contendah, creating expectations and feelings about CF to come that undermine the performance rep of their alu frames. And while I don't like the looks of the Specialized bikes in this class, at least they went with bold styling.
The blue and white Synapse looks better, but not great - just ordinary which beats stripped any day. How many comfort riders want a flat black bike?
Only way to save the day is use U.S. carbon fiber as their high end CF offerings. We'll see.

A little late to the party, but...
I bought a Matte Black (BBQ) Cannondale Synapse Carbon 2 in June of 2006. I have to say that anyone who refers to the Synapse as a "comfort bike" either has a pretty twisted definition of "comfort", or has been riding on an alcohol-soaked razor blade. Yes, it has a slightly longer wheelbase & slighly more relaxed HTA than their full-on racers, but it's still one of the most deft handling bikes I've ever had the pleasure of riding. Not as twitchy as some, and maybe it does tend to prefer [sic] a straight line more noticeably than a CAAD8 or a System6...but under an experienced rider the Synapse will go head-to-head with those bikes easily.
"A more upright position"??? I suppose if I stuck another half dozen spacers under the stem I could achieve that. This bike gets as aggressive as any non-pro riding a $3000 bike needs to be.
And I freakin' *LOVE* the matte black finish!
