Frame Cracking......
#6471 - 08/17/05 03:14 AM (209.63.133.19)

Has anyone ever had their Calfee frame crack......and if so, what were the details and how long did it take to get it repaired? I understand that this is a fairly rare occurrence, but just wanted to get any information you could provide. Thanks for your help!

It depends on the crack...

I had an evil rear wheel that failed catastrophically and resulted in the rear derailleur being sucked around the back of the dropout and into the right rear seatstay. This created what looked like a little crack (and turned out to be nearly all the way through).

I sent the frame to Calfee around the first of July and they had everything repaired around the last week in July. I then had them re-finish it with a snazzy new paint scheme.... just got it back yesterday.

Aside from the fact that the new paint makes it look like a new bike I defy anyone to find the spot where the crack occurred or even be able to tell that the frame was repaired.

Calfee can do some amazing stuff.
