LP Composite seatpost
#6514 - 08/26/05 08:18 PM (134.197.18.107)

I'm looking around at carbon seatposts for my Tetra. I came across a website for LP Composites and they've got what looks like a moderately light carbon post for a very reasonable price. My question is, does anyone have any knowledge of this company and on the type of clamp they use on their posts. I sent them the clamp question by email, but haven't heard back from them.

TIA.

Used one a long time ago and it was fair, clamp was funky. I now use the Ritchey WCS carbon post and really like it (other than graphics).

I finally gave up on carbon seatposts. After having slippage issues and clamps coming unglued I made the switch to a Thompson Masterpiece and never looked back. If you do go carbon and you find one where the clamp doesn't end up coming unglued, let me know.

I tried the new Easton Zero. No slipping, but the tube broke after just over a week of riding. It was a gradual failure... not a sudden collapse. While it was happening I thought my rear tire was going flat.

Easton sent me a warranty replacement, but I sold it on eBay and got a Thomson Masterpiece. Practically the same weight, no difference in ride. I love the tilt adjustment. I highly recommend it.

I have a Campy Record carbon that is fine. The clamp works very well and it is easier to set the angle than with a micro adjust.
Thompson as well. Great.
Dean Ti on the cross bike, solid.
Kalloy on the TT bike isn't glamourous, but it works.
