I wanted to post here after my first few rides but decided to wait for a while until I could find something wrong with the bike. Over a month now & not a damn thing to complain about. The frame is way stiffer than my Litespeed Vortex & Merlin Extralight. This is apparent when climbing (both seated & standing) & especially when sprinting. Even when hammering for that city limit sign at nearly 1600 watts there was very little flex & for the first time ever I couldn't hear the front derailler rubbing. Man, that was nice! Descending was very stable, although I have only gotten to 54 mph (sitting on the top tube & my chin on the SRM computer). Super stable though. I need a good tailwind day though & I will be able to get over 60 mph - that's when things start to go in slow motion & get really peaceful.
One thing that I have never experienced before is all of the "nice bike" comments while out riding. I wasn't really ready for that even though I have had nice bikes in the past. I say "thanks" & then think "ya, she is a nice bike isn't she". She is black & beautiful & has no fear. We rode in the snow yesterday & when I finished the ride there was a nice layer of crusty snow on the chainstays & behind the fork blades. A very nice ride indeed. Pics are posted with the race wheels. I can't wait wait for the first race in January where I will ride for the first time with those wheels - they are definately stiffer than the training wheels I am using now.
I feel as though I have been Born Again & Craig Calfee is my own personal Jesus Christ.
Looking forward to racing season,

Congrats on your new frame.I experienced the same same when I got a Luna in 02.It was the first frame I had that felt stiff when sprinting. The only "bad" thing is I no longer lust after other bikes.
I would like to get a custom Calfee cross and tandem tho.

I totally agree. I have had my TP for about 2 weeks (7 rides) and I cannot believe how a bike can be so comfortable, yet so stiff. I am large with a 60 cm frame and have never been able to adjust the outside stop for the front derailleur anywhere near the chain due to bottom bracket flex. There is absolutely no problem with that here. It is also the first bike I have had where people comment on it's looks.

You guys enjoy your bikes. I look forward to getting mine sometime before the turn of the year. I sent an email to Steve@Calfeedesign.com asking about the status of my build and he replied that he saw it on the layout table and that it would be in it's rough form by the end of the day. I'm getting psyched now, thinking about my new ride.
