Hello,
I am considering selling my '98 58cm C40; is in Mapei colors, the more subtle dark blue and mostly clear coated version that proceeded the light blue Mapei colors. This frame is pre- B-Stay but has the larger chainstays found on the second generation C40. The overall condition is very good; the right chainstay has some scratches. I would estimate the total miles at 4,000. I have the original Precisa steel threaded fork and a custom made AME(now True Temper) Alpha Q that was made with no decals, straight blades, threaded ti steerer. Fork has custom graphics made to match the Precisa. Very few miles on the steel fork. Bottom line; I am looking for some guidance on selling with respect to what I can realistically hope to get for it?? Currently built with DA9; will sell as a bike or frameset with both forks; value opinions either way will be appreciated. Thanks for your time; I just found this site and it is great! Considering going with a Calfee at this point, probably a Dragonfly..
Take care,
Scott

Hi Scott,
Generally, unless the bike was custom or very small production you can figure roughly ten percent depreciation per year for a bicycle. Your bike is one of the finer bikes of it's day so you might get more.
On the Calfee, go for it. I'm getting my second full-custom Tetra Pro which is being built as I type this. I hope to get it before the end of this year. Calfee makes an outstanding bicycle frame. I'm having mine built up as a fast commuting bike with fenders and a rear rack.
