Hey guy, I'm new to the group but have enjoyed reading your posts over the last year or so and figured I'd finally join the fray. Currently I own a Team SC and #56 of the last 100 MX Leaders made, so I've been a Merckx fan for quite some time.
My question is this: Do you know if the Motorola team bikes that was Caloi badged Merckx's were ever made with Corsa tubing or just MAX? More specifically, does anyone know if Axel ever rode a Corsa tubed bike or did he always have the MX Leader?
I've seen some shots of Corsa's with internally routed cables, but possibly sporting the beefy/aero MX fork. Has anyone else ever run across this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers!

Kerry,
When The North Club was selling off the Motorola equipment in the winter of '96/97, I bought numerous items. I was faxed a list of framesets and bikes that were available. From what I recall, the Motorola guys rode just about every combination you can imagine over the many years of EM/Caloi sponsorship. Mixed forks were very common. They even had a few prototype DeRosa (stamped into the bb shell) ti frames that Andy Hampsten had built. So, basically anything you can think of might have been combined to make the right bike for a given rider for a given race.
Hope this helps,
Scott

Scott thanks for the info! Sounds like you were one of the lucky ones who bought a lot of the stuff back then, so congrats! I've got one of the last 100 re-made MX Leaders that EM put out last year but have always been looking to add an actual team bike as well.
Best of luck,
Kerry
