CCKMP expereinces? new
#609 - 01/12/04 01:15 PM (68.72.152.128)

Hi,

Anybody out there with experience on a CCKMP? I've been thinking about these for some time. I have a Fina Estampa, a Marcelo and a Luigino, so obviously I'm a big fan of Dario's bikes. A comparison to any of the bikes I have would be much appreciated. I'm aware of the weight restriction, and that's not a problem.

thanks,
Dennis

how would you compare the ride of the three peg's you have? i have a fina (which i dig more with every ride) and a marcelo due to arrive any day (god and dario willing.) thanks.

DCOTCAMP

I have a 2003 Peg CCKMP. It has a very smooth and forgiving ride for am aluminum frame. Its very light (16.5 lbs), handles very well and has more vertical compliance than you would think. I would give one a try if you can find one. The paint scheme on mine is pretty cool with the different faces which are actually painted. Overall, its a very nice bike.

Jack,

Thanks for the CCKMP thoughts.

As far as comparing the other Pegorettis: the Marcelo was a real 'wow' experience the first time I rode it - much like the experience of my first good road bike (a CSi). It had a lively feel, great handling, comfortable for long rides. I raced and trained on it a bunch. It's now owned by my best pal. The fina is terrific, too. I don't think I'd know it was aluminum from the ride characteristics, to be honest. It's currently stripped down to a bare frame. I was on it when I was hit by a car last spring, and I've been waiting for the evil humors to leave it before building it up again. By the way, in spite of an impact bad enough to bend the front wheel sideways and bend the left crank arm, the frame appears to be fine.

As you can tell, I'm a fan of Dario's work. I'm waiting for a 2004 Luigino now.

Dennis

the fina is remarkable. i have a number of steel frames and my fina gives away nothing to them in ride comfort. it handles rough pavement every bit as well. dario works magic with it. i'm so jonzing for the marcelo to arrive. i know it's superficial, but to ride a frame built by someone who's built frames for great racers, well, it's kinda cool.

Jack,

Can I ask what size your CCKMP is? My concern is that I need a pretty big one, which Dario seems not to be making anymore. So I wonder how the big ones ride.

thanks,
Dennis
