Does anyone know how long it takes Calfee to produce a frame? I had heard recently that from the time you put your order in until the time you actually receive your Calfee, it takes approximately 10 months? Is this accurate?

Being that I have at two times within one year ordered full custom Tetra Pro bikes from Calfee I can say definitavely that it takes no longer than six to eight weeks. Where did you hear ten months? In fact, today I hung out at my local bike shop watching my Calfee being built up. It had arrived two days ago. I ordered it October 26. The actual order, though wasn't placed with Calfee until some back and forth discussion on fit and geometry issues were resolved. Based on actual order, then, it made my time eight weeks, plus or minus a few days.

I had heard this from a Calfee owner who purchased his bicycle this past year. I wasn't sure how accurate the statement was though - seems like 10 months would be a ridiculous amount of time to wait.....but look how long some people wait for a Richard Sachs frame. Glad to hear that it is not true though.

The production time gets longer as the riding season gets closer. Folks often seem to wait till the last minute before ordering their bikes.

I think it depends on the type of frame, and the time of the year it is ordered. Two years ago, I ordered a Tetra Pro in the middle of December, and got it five weeks later. I have a friend, who ordered a Luna in March last year, and got it in eight weeks. It's best to have your LBS to check with Calfee before you order.
