On the Serotta board, someone wanted to compare the CSI or CIII to the Crown Jewel. I did not want to post there because I don't think the bikes compare well and I did not want to go to the Serotta board and say that. I can really compare the CSI to the Independence best since I have owned a CSI that was built to do touring on to the Independence I now ride. The IF rides smoother and is stiffer as well as being joy to ride the paint is as good as the Serotta paint-flawless. I have also ridden a Ti Crown Jewel and currently own a Serotta Ti that I am trying to sell. I am not knocking the Serotta when I say that the Crown Jewel really does ride just as good and handles faster, although some riders would not like that.

bikinchris,
You should go to the Serotta forum and post your comments about the IF and the CSi.It is a place to post opinions and it certainly is not limited to only positive comments about Serottas. I own a CSi and I believe it is a remarkable bicycle and is very stiff and responsive, with an excellent compliant ride. I have seen some IF bikes, but have never ridden one. I saw a tig welded steel IF several months ago. It was asolutely gorgeous and the welds looked beautiful.I would like to ride one, one day.

I own a Ti Deluxe and the welds on it are works of art. They are so smooth they are hardly visible.

i have a crown jewel ti on order. can't wait. i've ridden quite a few legends over the years and never really liked the ride. i'm a big fan of serottas, but when it came to a new ti, chose the IF. of course my choice was easier when i found a mint condition used hors categorie for a great price. now if only the snow would melt.
