Bicycling magazine March issue
#7361 - 01/29/06 04:41 PM (24.22.126.42)

There's a feature on a Lousiana ride called the Rouge (as in Baton ROuge) Roubaix in this issue, which I just got in the mail. And lo and behold,on p. 28, the rider at the front of the photo is very plainly on a Calfee. The frane color may not be true, but it sure looks like black with a clear finish. Looks like Shimano wheels, from the decals you can see.

They're riding on some kind of packed dirt road, but I don't think the guy has cross tires on.

It isn't one of you-all, is it?

Could you post a picture or a link showing the picture, possibly?

The only photo I have is the one in the magazine (paper copy) and I don't have a scanner. I looked for the feature on their website and there doesn't appear to be a web version. Unlike newspapers, I guess, these guys don't give away their editorial content over the web. If I can find a way to put the photo online (sounds like a question for my other half), I will do that. Meantime the magazine website is

DId you ride this ride, Insight? It's not exactly in your part of the world but at least it's the correct coast.

Oops, that's not right...Insight's a Californian. Sorry, I was thinking of Fly. I'm as bad as this with my students' names, if that's a consolation.

There are pictures of the race on a link from the New Orleans Bike Club. THey show 60+ pictures. Haven't go the patience for them all, but I did look at about 25 and don't see the same photo. I don't see a Calfee decal..very very plain in the magazine's photo in anything I ran across.

Hi Pint..

Thanks. I did check out the rouge ride pics earlier today. I did a google search and found their site. I also checked Bicycling's site and had no luch there, as you also know. The only reason I was interested is because, as you know,I had my Calfee stolen this past September. As I understand it, there were profesional thieves involved and their MO is to ship bikes to another state, stymying any chance of finding where it ended up.

Well, the last time they did that race was March of 2005. That's the latest the photo could have been taken (date not given), and that's well before last September. Anyhow, if you'll send me your address off list, I'd be happy to just send you that feature, with this photo. It's a pretty good size.
