Cycle Dynamics cogsets
#743 - 01/22/04 01:21 AM (69.144.202.250)

Does anyone have any experience with Cycle Dynamics titanium cogs? Do they shift well, wear well, etc. I am trying to cram a 13-28 on my Dura-Ace triple setup.

I have one and I LOVE it. new [Re: Lowdog]

I ride a campy Daytona 10 and couldn't find the gearing I wanted. I ride in the mountains far more than the flats but I'm not prepared to leave behind my 12 tooth cog.

Campy only offered 3 cog-sets:
25-11
27-12
29-13
(This was a while ago so my memory is a bit fuzzy on those exact numbers.)

I was hoping to get something more along the lines of 28-12 and they were able to help me out. Along the way, they asked me which individual gears I wanted and after thinking for a while, I asked them to shift things towards the larger end. So instead of having a jump from 28-25-22... I went with 28-26-23... Essentially it's the same gearing you would get with a 9-cog 26-12 setup with an additional 28 attached to round out the 10 speeds.

I'm very happy with the quality of the product, I've owned them for 4 years and ridden them quite a bit. They are showing zero signs of wear and they shift better then the original campy setup I had (27-12).

They are a bit pricey, but not that bad for a titanium cog set.

As a side note, they can create different cog sets for campy wheels with shimano deraileurs or vice-versa. That's the original reason I was attracted to them, but then I got new wheels anyway.

New 10 speed cogs new [Re: Lowdog]

Does anyone have an intersted in a 13-25 ten speed? I have the new Dura-Ace and love it. However, I very seldom use the smaller gears. I would like to have the 25 so I could have 13-14-15-16-17-18-19-21-23-25. The 13-19 is perfect for flats, the 21-15 for hills. I currently have a 12-23. I like it but not interested in trading the 18 tooth for the 25. The only problem is Shimano doesn't make a 13-25!

Thank you! I had been trying to remember their name and I could not.

Now that Shimano cassettes are in the same straospheric price range as Campy I wanted to see what else was out there. I just could not remember their name.

I did a Google search and read some great reviews. Plus when you read about their construction techniques you have to be impressed. Add to that their weight and range of ratios and they really have it all. They are "only" $149 for a 9 speed Shimano Ti Cassette. With the 12-27 Dura-Ace now retailing at 138 that does not sound bad. Plus I get an 11 on the high end and a 28 on the low end. When I hit some of the walls around here I know I'll like one more tooth. Plus I love the 11 on our fast downgrades. Now all I need is some money!

I sent an e-mail and had a very quick reply. I remember talking to them on the phone a few years ago and they are really nice folks. They remind you of Calfee.

Take care.
