New here, and where is Casati?! new
#6864 - 10/30/05 08:26 AM (80.9.175.85)

Hi all -

I just joined to see what this forum was all about. I notice a lot of marques represented, but not Casati.

Any particular reason? I have one, so here is a start with mine: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/masong4/casati.htm

Looking forward to some good info!

Cheers...Gary

Hi Gary,

Welcome to the forum. As for Casati, I'm not familiar with them so I took some time to look on their web site and at the link you kindly posted. I would guess that most of the members on this site are from the US. Since I only see one American distributor listed for Casati, and on the east coast at that, I would think there are only a few of their bikes in the US at this time. I can be wrong since I'm only guessing. I personally never saw one before. They certainly look like very finely crafted machines, no doubt.

Cheers,

Ed

Actually, I suspect that there are quite a few Casatis in the USA. In any case, the quality of frame construction had a lot to do with my getting one. No fool like an old fool.

Their own Web site is at http://www.ciclicasati.it/azienda.htm

There is quite a large selection of NOS frames at this site as well: http://www.racycles.com/road/road_menu.htm

As I was born in Brooklyn, that has a ring to it.

Hi again, Gary,

I was born and raised in New Jersey. Sacramento, California is now my home since my wife comes from here. When I am out and about I'll keep my eye out and if I see a Casati I'll think to post here that I saw one.

Cheers,

Ed

Thanks Nev,

Ironically my relatives came from Dover and I knew the town pretty well in the 60's to 80's. I know the street where the Casati address is. I only remember it as some industrial buildings surrounded by residential areas. Interesting.

Cheers,

Ed

Thanks for those. It's nice to see people retaining the older frames.

BTW, why did the last guy badge his as a Chesini???

Hi
don't know if this thread is dead or not. Thing is that i'm searching infomations about my Casati frame i found on ebay. I knew that those frames are great work. I did some work on it found components and gave it a new live.

My Casati

Could anybody give my information about the possible age of this frame, the model, tubing etc. There is nothing noticed on the frame but Casati Monza. The way this bike works make me think that the tubes are far to be bad quality.

aren't there any casati fans out here ?

Cheers
Billou

Ask These Bozos and I bet you'll be likely to get some info. Just tell them or at least strongly suggest that you intend to convert it to a Fixed Gear, you know: have ridden it too long, you have enough other bikes, you just got it from your brother-in-law, etc.

Let us know what you find out.

Nev did I pick up a note of cynicism?

Absolutely!
But I've been called worse by them, and they're completely harmless and loaded with the obscurest bike info/tips you could imagine -- but pretty confined to the old stuff. When posting bike photos just be prepared, they'll pounce fast on the tiniest imperfection: off color coordination, poor stem angles, misguided spoke patterns, brake hood positioning, pretty much everything.

Hi
found some hints to identify my Casati. Possibly a Casati TSX early 1990.

Good work. Keep us informed as you learn more. Did you see the little blurb on Sheldon Brown's site? http://www.sheldonbrown.com/vrbn-a-f.html#casati
