Miles and miles along the San Andreas fault with no cars to be seen and decent roads for 100 miles. I did the 70 mile route. It started in Shandon, Ca and went east on 46 to Bitterwater Rd. From there you climb for 30 miles with 2-6% grades. Trees dotted the landscape along with cattle, buzzards, squirrels, and the occasional horse ranch. If you want a day alone without cars or complications try this route. This ride was a benefit for RAAM Team Cyclonauts and had great stops for food, rest, and drinks. Highly recommended ride!

I'm in Pittsburgh with weather in the 30's, clouds, snow due tomorrow on the first full day of spring, pot holes, lousy roads with too many cars...I'm envious.

I am more than lucky to live in an area of clean air, clean water, little urban sprawl, educated population base, good weather, and miles of roads out your front door for cycling. Sounds great but we all know it's not that simple; high costs, urban sprawl, gentrification, politics, and mental and physical health come and go wherever you live...I consider moving all the time, bet you do too!
michael wishing you health, work, and love...
