q ring triple on stiletto
#8102 - 09/10/06 04:22 PM (24.180.7.101)

I've been wondering about rotorcranks/q rings and how well they would work on the stiletto and finally bought some. Long story made short my climbing on grades improved significantly, as much as 2mph on steeper hills. This is very good news for the recumbent guy who couldn't keep with upright roadies on hills. Prior to the q rings I could keep a 7.5 pace on long grades of 7-12% and the df/upright guys could keep 9-10 mph on the same hills. This difference is significant on a hilly course and I could not keep pace unless it was on a long ride without drafting etc, then I have an advantage. This puts me within striking distance of faster roadies...cool! Faster as in guys who can ride 25 on flats and hills at 10, not faster as in pro guys who can do 14 on them thar hills.
