weight, weight, do tell me!

Anyone here in the calfee forum consider themselves a "weight weenie"? I'd be very interested in hearing from those who've built up their machines (Dragonfly, Tetra, Luna) and have succeeded in -- or have come close to -- reaching that sub-sixteen pound bike. Which frame and size are you riding, what components are you using, and what's the weight of your set up?

I had this set at around 14.9 at one time with speedpaly X1 pedals. http://www.bikefanclub.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=1289&size=big&ppuser=121

Zipps with carbon flight spokes and Tufo lites really drops the weight on the wheels. Zepp Prima 199 bars and stems with Ti bolts. Carbon Flite saddle and the old BCD post.
Love the light weight but the odd wheelset is not a daily rider for me.

Hey Super U,

That's an awesome photo! I love the symbolism of the Calfee tracking as if it were on rails, and the way the railroad spur line leads your eye to the distant and almost vanishing corner. Sorta metaphoric for looking towards the future with carbon fiber. The cropping is perfect with the spur line just kissing the right and top edges. If you didn't crop and set up the shot that way, double kudos! Now just get the bike sharply in focus and get rid of the ugly, tilt up concrete wall (or at least the vertical seams) and you'd have something really worthy of framing!

I actually don't really consider myself a weight weenie, but managed to put together a pretty light bike. Actually, very similar specs to yours:

D-Fly Pro 52cm (with paint)
Reynolds Ouzo Pro fork
Campy Record '06
FSA K-Force Mega Exo Compact cranks
Campy Eurus '06 wheels
Zero Gravity 0G-06 Ti brakes
Thomson Masterpiece seatpost
Thomson Elite X2 stem (110 mm)
Easton EC90 Equipe handlebars
Selle Italia SLC saddle
Dura-Ace pedals
Profile Karbon Lite cage

The bike currently weighs in at 15.5 lbs.

Pic finally showed up here.

Superunleaded: Your photo (along with a couple others) inspired the paint job I got on my bike: The top-to-bottom ferrari red to clear fade. I just added the clearcoat on the lugs to show off the carbon a little bit more. Thanks!

S,
The Calfee ride sure feels like you are on rails.
The photo, that is cropped and one of the many I took during the photo session. I just found all of the originals which I thougt I lost to computer virus. I just extracted them from and old bakup media, you know, those old little floppy disks.

5 1/4 or 3 1/2? :-p

I put a broken 5.25 drive in an empty bay in my ("modern") 'puter at work and kept a CD sticking part way out. You'd be surprised at the number of people who'd come by an ask what type of CD drive it was.

Hi M,
Welcome to the forum.
Since you are still playing around with your new toy, how about setting it up with bright red tires? It'll look like you ran over somebody with their blood splattered all over the frame just kidding of course but I did tried it once.

3.5 floppies.

I remember being a "keypunch operator" (yes, that was my job title lol ) with those full sized cards and then eventually progressed onto those 10 inch floppies. man, I am old.
