Stripping/Removing Paint from a Calfee new
#8780 - 05/16/07 04:02 AM (24.23.171.229)

Has anyone done this on their own? I have a calfee that is in need of refinishing and I thought I may try sanding down the original paint before having it refinished.

Anyone?

Thanks,
Jon B.

I would strongly suggest you contact Calfee as to how to proceed with your paint stripping. They will give you the info you need. I don't believe sanding is the way to go.

I would return it to them to be refinished. I had one done and it came back better than new. I have known others to do the same. The cost is less if you are going with the same color(s). Give them a call and you can get all the specifics.

Not to thread hijack here, but I have a related question. Do you know if Craig can "nudify" a painted fork? I saw they can prep an existing fork but I didn't know if that was the same thing as making it into a nude fork.

If no one knows I'll just call Craig, but I thought I could ask here first.

Yes he can make a fork nude. When you buy a nude bike he takes a fork from Easton, Alpha Q etc. and makes them nude. He did if for me when I bought my nude Fly.

After I posted yesterday I checked and there is a price list at the site for all of these services. I'd still call too to discuss it.

Take care.
